Concrete Polishing

Stonecrete Solutions provide a comprehensive concrete polishing service to domestic, commercial and industrial customers throughout Gwynedd, North Wales & the UK.

A polished concrete floor provides an extremely high-quality finish, with a life cycle cost of up to 60% less than any traditional floor covering. Polished concrete gives you a stunning architectural floor that will last the lifetime of the building.

After polishing, dirty grey floors are transformed into shining, easy to clean and durable surfaces.

Why choose concrete floor polishing?

A polished concrete floor is typically chosen for its many benefits including:

Despite the smooth look of polished concrete, it is no more slippery than other types of flooring. Polished concrete floors are an incredibly functional option for homes and commercial premises.

A polished concrete floor is highly resistant to wear, scratches and most chemicals. With a long life-span, they are ideal in high-traffic areas such as hallways or kitchens. They are also ideal solution within commercial / industrial buildings such as shops, schools and offices.

Low Maintenance

A polished concrete floor is virtually maintenance free. They can be swept, vacuumed, or mopped clean and they’ll never require more intensive intervention.

Natural & Environmentally-friendly

Natural, dust-free and hypo-allergenic, polished concrete flooring doesn’t harbour harmful bacteria, mould or fungi. They of course don’t trap odours or smells.

A fantastic, high-gloss or “wet look” finish can be achieved. Polished concrete provides a similar appearance to marble or terrazzo.

The Process Explained

Polished concrete comes in various finishes:

  • Polished cream  – where just the fat on the surface gets polished.
  • Salt and pepper effect –  where very small amounts of aggregate are exposed and then polished.
  • Full exposure  – where the concrete is ground away to expose the required amount of aggregate and then polished.

All the above can be finished in either very high sheen, semi sheen or honed finished.

You can grind and polish an existing concrete slab or you could have a purpose laid top coat which gives greater control over the finished product. Any system requires specialist machinery and the appropriate diamond tooling to create a high gloss reflective or a matt finish. If it is an existing concrete slab the finish will be dictated by the quality of the concrete.
